Airplane Rocker Modeled After Dad’s Plane

Airplane rocker

Corky, one of our customers shared about this special project making a child’s airplane rocker for his grandson’s birthday. But this wasn’t just any airplane rocker, the idea was to capture the look of a specific T6 Texan that his son-in-law flew.

Below are some of the details of this project:

Started with 8/4 Bass Wood purchased from CO Lumber.

Prototyped the idea out of cardboard and milled down the required pieces.

Used a piece of aspen, also purchased at CO Lumber, for the wing.

The design idea was to capture the look of a specific T6 Texan that my son-in-law flew, so that involved painting it. The insignia was hand-painted.

Here’s the finished product.

We presented the gift and he immediately climbed on and started rocking.

My son-on-law, and the photo that inspired the idea.

Such an amazing and well done project! Thank you Corky for sharing!
